Rudge-Whitworth built its first motorcycle in 1910 and is best remembered for its pioneering use of four-valve cylinder heads which first appeared in 1924.The full potential of Rudge’s four-valves-per-cylinder design was slow to emerge until Graham Walker’s works 500 became the first motorcycle to win a road race – the 1928 Ulster Grand Prix – at an average speed in excess of 80mph.
Rudge motorcycles have always had a great reputation for engineering excellence as well as performance which is why they have a very loyal and avid following today. This 500cc Special remains in generally good condition for an 87 year old ! currently showing 57,337 miles it is in good running order.
